From Andrew

Welcome to my website. Since being elected as a member of the ACT Legislative Assembly in 2006, I have worked hard to represent the people of the Molonglo electorate as a local member and also in my roles as Minister for Education and Training, Planning, Tourism, Sport and Recreation and Gaming and Racing.

I am committed to further improving our high quality education system to prepare our students for the future.  ACT Labor has invested record amounts in quality teaching, curriculum renewal, early childhood education, smaller average class sizes and school infrastructure so that our students have access to quality teaching in state-of-the art facilities.

Taking advantage of my unique role as Minister for Education and Sport and Recreation, I have revitalised physical education in our schools. Quality PE and school sport not only helps address the worrying issue of childhood obesity but is also proved to help students with other areas of school, such as reading and writing.

As Minister for Planning, I am determined to keep politics out of planning decisions and to make our development controls simpler, faster and more effective. I have also implemented a number of programs designed to minimise the environmental impact future development has on our city. Climate change is a very real problem and ACT Labor is committed to working with Canberrans to do our share.

The Chief Minister and I have been working hard to implement the affordable housing action plan to ensure that we all have the opportunity to own our own home.

Please have a look around the site and give my office a call if there is anything I can help you with.
