Member for Yerrabi
A Canberrran through and through, Suzanne grew up in Giralang and attended local public schools. She has lived in her electorate of Yerrabi for most of her life. She worked for 15 years in the local hospitality and tourism industries before graduating from the University of Canberra.
Growing up, Suzanne's family fostered over 200 children. She saw from a young age how easy it is to be pushed out of opportunities and also what difference even a small amount of help can make.
In her professional life prior to her election, Suzanne worked tirelessly as a Community and Public Sector Union delegate to ensure vulnerable members of the workforce are treated fairly. She campaigned for employees’ rights to decent wages and conditions.
Suzanne found her feet in ACT politics while leading the push for the ACT Government to divest from fossil fuels, and championing climate change action.
Suzanne's vision for a sustainable Canberra involves better public transport and environmental planning. She continues to champion stage 1 of the city-defining light rail network based on the economic and environmental benefits it will bring to Yerrabi.
