Children at Hughes preschool will be able ride around their new ‘bike and trike’ circuit, a figure eight loop built using funds from a $1,500 grant provided by the ACT Government to the preschool’s parent association.
The Government has been pleased to help hard working parent groups deliver projects for their schools.
Parents at every ACT school contribute vast amounts of time and work very hard to raise funds for projects at their schools.
ACT Labor recognises this which is why at the last election we committed to invest $2.1 million to provide parent groups at every ACT school with a one‐off $15,000 grant for a project or projects to improve the school.
This also included grants of $1,500 for each preschool parent association which what the Hughes preschool community has put towards this project.
Across the ACT we have seen these funds put to great use, supplementing the many hours of volunteer work conducted in canteens, at school fetes and all the other activities required to run a good fund raiser.
I congratulate the Hughes School community on their efforts in fundraising to make this bike circuit a reality.
I understand the Hughes IGA also made a significant contribution to this project, as part of their ongoing and substantial partnership with the school. I join with the Hughes School community in thanking them for their support.
