Narrabundah Early Childhood School hall refurbishment

Today I visited Narrabundah Early Childhood School with Federal Member for Canberra Annette Ellis MP to officially open the refurbished hall.

Annette and I unveiled a plaque to mark the official opening of the hall refurbishments, which were recently completed under the Building the Education Revolution (BER) Primary Schools for the 21st Century program.

The $250,000 refurbishment to the hall is part of the $650 million investment that the Australian and ACT Governments are making to upgrade every ACT Public School, to ensure every school is a great school.

The upgrades include colourful new paint work, energy efficient lighting, a new audio visual system, polished floors, a height-appropriate movable stage, and the hall can be divided using theatre curtains to create two separate spaces.

The hall creates a great space for students to learn and play as well as participate in sport and activities such as their ongoing fitness and development programs. It also provides a dining space for the canteen kitchen and the School’s monthly community breakfast, as well as weekly parent groups.

The refurbished hall will also benefit the southern Canberra community as the hall is available for use outside school hours.
