Canberra's newest off-leash dog park in Weston Park, Yarralumla opens this weekend - the third of its kind to be delivered by the ACT Government.
Chief Minister Jon Stanhope said the drought-resistant park would open for the first time on Saturday.
"Following the success of dog parks in Tuggeranong and Belconnen, the ACT Government has completed a new off-leash dog park in Weston Park," Mr Stanhope said.
"The fenced-off park provides a dedicated space for dogs and their owners to exercise and socialise in central Canberra.
"It features separate enclosures for small and big dogs, walking paths, seats, bubblers and water sources for dogs.
"Off-leash dog parks in Belconnen and in Tuggeranong are used by up to 100 Canberrans and their dogs every weekend and I expect the new park to rival their popularity."
The ACT Government provided $250,000 in the 2009-2010 Budget for the design and construction of a dog park in the inner north or inner south of Canberra.
Weston Park was identified as the preferred location through a community survey held in November 2009.
The dog park is located in Weston Park on the corner of Banks and Brown Streets in Yarralumla.
