Floriade Nightfest tickets on sale

Floriade NightFest returns in 2010 with five spectacular nights of illuminated blooms and non-stop entertainment, including live comedy, acrobatics, music, cocktails, films under the stars, night markets and a variety of food and wine.

This year’s program features an exciting new line-up of entertainment and activities as well as stunning new lighting effects that promise to make the event more magical than ever.

Pack a picnic and head to the lawns of Stage 88 where you can watch films such as Alice in Wonderland, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Mamma Mia! and Up on a giant inflated screen. The National Film and Sound Archives will also present a series of Australian short films from its collection.

Take in the stunning views from the 35-metre Ferris wheel, jump on a carnival ride or check out some of Questacon’s all-time favourite exhibits at the Shell Questacon Science Circus exhibition.  Enjoy cocktails and music at the Butterfly Lounge or spoil yourself at Garnier World, with complimentary treatments including mini massages, facials and hair styling.

The Carnival Stage will feature stand-up comedy, acrobatics and magic from renowned artists and comedians such as Patrick McCullagh, The List Operators and Dave Thornton. Visitors can explore the amazing innovations of Leonardo da Vinci by night with special guided tours of the Da Vinci Machines Exhibition which is a separate ticketed event.

This year’s Floriade NightFest promises five nights of fun for the whole family and I urge patrons to buy tickets in advance to avoid missing out. I also encourage Canberrans to invite their interstate friends and relatives to attend the event.

Floriade NightFest will run 6.30 pm to 10.30 pm from Wednesday 22 September to Sunday 26 September 2010. Tickets are on sale from www.ticketek.com.au or any Ticketek agent or by phoning 13 28 49.

Floriade NightFest tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for children, $50 for a family (two adults, two children) and $10 for concession holders.
