Chris Steel

Member for Murrumbidgee

Chris is a strong voice for the Southside in the Legislative Assembly. Chris and his family proudly live in Kambah, though he grew up in Woden, playing for Woden Valley Soccer Club and attending local public schools, Torrens Primary, Melrose High School and Narrabundah College. He studied law at ANU and remains a keen soccer player.

Chris has worked for the ACT and Federal Governments as a policy adviser on education, early childhood, community services and youth policy. Prior to his election in October 2016, Chris worked in the community sector advocating for the rights of young children.

Chris has been a Director on the Board of YMCA Canberra and he is an advocate for improving access to educational opportunities for Canberra children, and ensuring that the ACT is an inclusive community, particularly for vulnerable Canberrans.
